Vol. 206 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Moy Drainage Scheme.

4.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the numerous applications for extensions of minor drainage works to the Moy drainage scheme; and if he will undertake to have such applications investigated before drainage machinery is withdrawn from the areas concerned.

More than 250 applications have been received for extensions of drainage works on the Moy scheme. The engineers on the scheme are so engaged on the approved works programme that it is not possible to examine all these applications before the machinery leaves the particular areas concerned. Each one will be investigated on its merits as the work programme permits. There will be continuous movement of machines over the whole catchment and I can assure the Deputy that the decision in each case will not be affected by the fact that the machines may have temporarily left the particular area.
