Vol. 206 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Portlaoise Fair Tolls.

35.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the Town Clerk in Portlaoise has made representations to the Land Commission on two occasions on behalf of Portlaoise Town Commissioners in regard to the payment of fair tolls in Portlaoise; and that he has not received any reply to these representations; and if he will cause immediate inquiries to be made as to why the Commissioners have been ignored in regard to their inquiries.

I reject the allegation contained in the final part of the question.

A full reply to the Town Clerk's letter of 14th November, 1963, issued on 2nd instant. His second letter—by way of reminder—was dated 27th November, 1963, but was not received in the Land Commission until 3rd December, 1963. In fact the information sought by the Town Clerk had been previously conveyed to him in 1951 within two days of his asking for it.
