Vol. 206 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Conversion of Military Barracks into Flats.

46.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will arrange for a redistribution of personnel in the five city military barracks so as to make at least one of them available to the Dublin Corporation for conversion into flats for families displaced from unsafe houses, and other families in urgent need of accommodation.

It would not be feasible to redistribute the personnel in the five military barracks in Dublin along the lines suggested by the Deputy.

My information is that the military barracks in Dublin are grossly undermanned and that the transfer of a number of personnel would cause no great problem.

I do not think the Deputy's information is accurate.
