asked the Minister for Local Government the number and classification of mechanically-propelled vehicles in respect of which road taxation was paid in each year from 1954 to the nearest date for which figures are available.

The information requested in regard to the number and classification of mechanically-propelled vehicles in respect of which taxation was paid is shown by reference to the number of mechanically-propelled vehicles under current licence on 10th August. The information is in the form of a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report.

The figures available relate to the total amounts collected and lodged to the local motor tax accounts by all local authorities in each financial year and are in the form of a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report.
