Vol. 208 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Heavy Industry for Fermoy.

27.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is satisfied that his Department and the Industrial Development Authority are giving the claim of Fermoy town to some type of heavy industry its due merit.

I am satisfied that my Department and the Industrial Development Authority bring the facilities available for industrial development in Fermoy, as in every other area, to the notice of industrial promoters who may request information about the locality. The Deputy will understand that it is impracticable for me to seek to direct a particular type of industry to a specific locality. He may take it, however, that any sound proposal that may be formulated by local or other interests for the establishment of a viable industry in the Fermoy area will be afforded all possible assistance.
