Vol. 208 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shankill (Dublin) Rehousing Applications.

48.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of applications for rehousing outstanding in the Shankill area of County Dublin; whether he has sanctioned any proposals by the County Council for new house building in that area; and whether any such proposals are known to be pending or are still being examined in his Department.

I understand that Dublin County Council has a total of 38 applications for rehousing from persons resident in the Shankill area but that these applications have not yet been fully examined with a view to establishing eligibility for rehousing.

Approval to the acceptance of a tender for the development of a site at Shankill was conveyed to the county council on 5th February, 1964. The site is capable of accommodating 62 houses. The actual number to be provided will be determined on completion of the development work.
