asked the Taoiseach the total number of persons unemployed at a current date; and what percentage of the working total this represents.

The total number of persons on the Live Register on the 9th May, 1964 was 51,368. The percentage unemployed is calculated by relating the number of currently insured persons on the live register, excluding those in agriculture, fishing and private domestic service, to the estimated corresponding currently insured population. This percentage at 18th April, 1964, the latest date available, was 6.3.
