Vol. 211 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - CIE Bus Purchases.

48.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the number of buses purchased by CIE during the past year; the length of the chassis of each make; the price of each bus; and the total outlay on buses for the past year.

Forty-two buses, including thirty-nine replacement buses, were built by CIE and brought into service during the year ended 31st March, 1964. Total expenditure on additions to and replacements of road passenger rolling stock during the year amounted to £445,700. This sum includes expenditure on improvements to existing buses and the value of work in progress. The other information sought by the Deputy relates to matters of day-to-day administration which I do not propose to seek from the Board. Information on the number of buses constructed is, in fact, provided in the Board's annual report and the report always includes a census of road vehicles in current operation.

Has this year's annual report been published yet?

This year's report has not been published.

In the name of heavens, how can I know what is in the Board's annual report when it has not been published?

Next question.

The Minister is only making himself ridiculous.

When the report of the Board comes along, that information will be in it.

Why not tell us now?

Next question.
