Vol. 211 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Temporary Typists in Civil Service.

2.

asked the Minister for Finance whether, in recruiting temporary typists for Civil Service Departments any upper or lower age limits are specified; and, if so, what age limits are specified, and why.

Firm age limits are not as a rule specified by Departments in recruiting temporary typists but I understand that applicants between the ages of 17 and 30 are regarded by Departments as the most suitable for appointment.

3.

asked the Minister for Finance whether, in recruiting temporary typists for Civil Service Departments, retired established Civil Service typists are considered for such posts; if so, how many such persons are employed at present; and under what conditions they qualify for such posts.

I am informed that no retired Civil Service typists are employed as temporary typists in the Civil Service and that they have not been considered for such posts.
