Vol. 211 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Certificate of Payment of Income Tax.

4.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Finance the number of certificates issued under section 6 of the Finance Act, 1928 in each of the last ten years, and the cost of them.

Income tax statistics are not kept in such a way as would provide the information for which the Deputy asks but it is estimated that about 10,000 certificates were issued in the year 1963-64. It is not possible to state the cost of preparing and issuing such certificates since they are dealt with in the ordinary course of work in the tax districts but it is probable that the cost is in the region of £2,000.
