Vol. 211 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clerical Officer Pensioners.

5.

asked the Minister for Finance if in view of the increase of £4 per week granted to serving clerical officers, he will also consider adjusting the percentage increase for those pensioners of the same grade who retired since 1962; and if it would be possible to grant this increase from August next for other pensioners.

The statement in the first part of the question is not correct. A claim for a pay increase on behalf of the clerical officer grade is at conciliation, in accordance with the scheme of conciliation and arbitration for the Civil Service, and is unresolved as yet. The question of adjusting pensions does not, therefore, arise, but in any event I do not propose to augment further the increases to pensioners announced in this year's Budget.
