51.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare (a) the commencement dates of the old age pension at the following rates: (i) five shillings, (ii) two shillings and sixpence war supplement, (iii) ten shillings, (iv) nine shillings and (v) the restored ten shillings, and the maximum pension payable to a married couple over seventy years of age at each date; and (b) the yearly means expressed as a rate per week under which (i) a person over seventy and (ii) a married couple over seventy could qualify for the maximum old age pension as at each of such dates.

Following is the information requested by the Deputy:
