Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Strength in Dublin.

67.

asked the Minister for Justice if there are any proposals to increase the strength of the Garda in Dublin.

The number of gardaí in the extended Dublin Metropolitan Area which was created on 1st June last was 2,021 on 31st October. This figure is as high as ever it has been and is about 200 higher than the strength of the Force in the corresponding region prior to 1961.

The strength of the Force in the Area is kept constantly under review with a view to ensuring an adequate service and the efficient and economical use of available manpower.
