Vol. 214 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Restrictive Trade Practices Act, 1953.

33.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether any emendation of the Restrictive Trade Practices Act, 1953 is contemplated with a view to strengthening the powers of the Fair Trade Commission; and, if so, when the necessary legislation will be forthcoming.

No amendment of the Restrictive Trade Practices legislation is contemplated. The Deputy may be assured, however, that this legislation, including the provisions relating to the functions of the Fair Trade Commission, is reviewed from time to time to ensure that it is effective in eliminating practices which are unfair or contrary to the public interest.
