Vol. 214 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ferns (Wexford) Housing.

26.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether there are any proposals before his Department for the building of new houses in Ferns by Wexford County Council; and, if so, if he will expedite sanction in view of the hardship which is being caused to a number of families at present owing to overcrowding, uninhabitable housing and lack of sanitary facilities.

Plans for an eight-house scheme at Ferns were approved by me last July. It is a matter for the housing authority to invite tenders for the scheme. I am informed that this step has been deferred pending the completion of negotiations for the sale of part of the site to the Vocational Education Committee.
