Vol. 215 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Turnover Tax on Medicines and Drugs.

6.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will remove the turnover tax from medicines and drugs supplied to persons when such drugs and medicines are supplied on doctor's prescription.

The answer to the Deputy's question must be in the negative. Because of the nature of the turnover tax, it is not feasible to single out particular retail sales for special treatment.

But particular items were singled out when the original proposal went through.
