Vol. 215 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Home Assistance Payments.

26.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the circumstances in which home assistance is given to supplement other insurance benefits or social assistance.

Public assistance authorities are required, under the Public Assistance Act, 1939, to provide such public assistance for persons in their districts as shall appear to them to be necessary or proper in each particular case. The grant of assistance in particular cases, including cases of applicants in receipt of social welfare benefits or assistance, is therefore a matter for the public assistance authorities concerned.
