Vol. 215 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Heating of Forestry Huts.

29.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware of the inadequate heating of huts for forestry workers in mid-Cork; and if he proposes to build new and better huts for these workers.

The timber huts used as shelters and toolhouses are intended only for intermittent use in the event of temporary inclemencies in the weather and not for continuous occupation. The essential requisite in such structures is that they be light and suitable for movement from place to place, and the installation of heaters in them is neither practicable nor necessary. Ways and means of making them more comfortable and weather proof are at present under examination.
