Vol. 216 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Templeogue (Dublin) Estate Wall.

42.

asked the Minister for Local Government the circumstances whereby a wall was erected across the roadway at Springfield Crescent, Templeogue, Dublin, allegedly by some development interests operating in that area; and what action was taken in the matter by Dublin Corporation.

I understand that the wall referred to was erected as a result of some dispute between the developers of two adjoining housing estates. When a wall was first being erected at this point in 1962 a special prohibition order prohibiting the further proceeding with the work was made by Dublin Corporation on 28th November, 1962, under section 57 of the Town and Regional Planning Act, 1934. An appeal against this order was lodged with me and on 3rd September, 1963, I confirmed the special prohibition order. That wall was demolished, but a few weeks ago the Corporation ascertained that a new wall was being erected in the same location. Planning permission for the erection of this wall was neither sought nor obtained and I am informed that the corporation are considering enforcement proceedings under section 31 of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, to secure removal of the wall.
