asked the Minister for Local Government if he has approved of the proposed extension to the water supply scheme at Fivemilebourne, County Leitrim.

No proposals for an extension of the water supply scheme at Fivemilebourne have yet been submitted to my Department.

43.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding a water supply scheme for the Knocknagree area, County Cork.

44.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has any plans for a proposed water supply scheme for the Dromtariffe area, County Cork.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 43 and 44 together.

A preliminary report on the Newmarket - Knocknagree regional water supply scheme which will serve both the Knocknagree and Dromtariffe areas is at present under examination in my Department.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the following water supply schemes will start in South Kerry: (a) Lauragh, Kenmare, (b) Mid Kerry, (c) Gneeveguilla, (d) Caherdaniel, (e) Emlaghmore, (f) Valentia Island, and (g) Kells.

I am not in a position to state when work on these schemes will commence. The following is the present position in regard to each scheme:

(a) Lauragh, Kenmare: Contract documents approved. Local authority at present acquiring land and water rights.

(b) Mid Kerry: Contract documents approved. Proposals for financing scheme under consideration in Department.

(c) Gneeveguilla: No proposals before Department.

(d) Caherdaniel, (e) Emlaghmore: Preliminary report being prepared for Kerry County Council by a Consultant.

(f) Valentia Island: Contract documents approved. Proposals for financing scheme under consideration in Department.

(g) Kells: Proposals for scheme approved. Acquisition of lands by local authority proceeding.
