asked the Minister for Lands how many farmers have been given farms and transferred to other counties from (a) County Leitrim and (b) County Sligo within the past two years.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sligo-Leitrim Transfer Holdings.
52.
In the two-year period ended 31st March last, five families were transferred by the Land Commission from County Leitrim and one from County Sligo to newly-created holdings in other counties. In addition, two migrants were provided with exchange holdings within County Leitrim itself.
Perhaps I should add that these activities represent only part of the land settlement programme for the two counties in question. Altogether, in Counties Leitrim and Sligo during the period referred to, areas aggregating some 1,600 acres and 1,150 acres were distributed by the Land Commission in 180 and 110 allotments, respectively.
