Vol. 217 No. 8

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Bray Road Development.

20.

andMr. Andrews asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has yet received any plans from Dublin Corporation and Dublin County Council for development of the Bray Road; and, if so, whether particular attention is being paid to the elimination of dangerous intersections such as White's Cross, Stillorgan.

Plans submitted by Dublin Corporation for the improvement of the section of the Bray Road from Donnybrook to Foster Avenue, were approved in principle in August, 1961. Recently, Dublin County Council furnished tentative plans for continuing the improvement to Galloping Green and these are at present under examination. Both sets of plans envisage the provision of a dual carriageway, all-purpose road in place of the existing road. Accordingly, while it will not be feasible to eliminate existing intersections in the improved road, their design will receive particular attention before final plans are approved with a view to ensuring that the treatment adopted at each particular location will afford the maximum safety to all road users.
