Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pharmaceutical Products.

11.

asked the Minister for Local Government to what extent preference may be extended to suppliers of Irish manufactured pharmaceutical products during the next contract period for the purchase of these goods.

In making appointments as official contractors for the supply of preparations included in the Special List of Medicines for the year ending 30th June, 1966, where there was competition between home manufactured and foreign manufactured preparations, a preference of 15 per cent generally was accorded to home manufactured pharmaceuticals. In the case of four preparations where the home manufactured product exceeded the price of the foreign manufactured product by more than 15 per cent both Irish and foreign preparations were accepted.
