Vol. 217 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment for Acquired Lands.

12.

asked the Minister for Lands if there is sufficient money available to his Department for the payment for lands already acquired by agreement or otherwise; if so, why lands taken by the Land Commission more than one year ago and on which a price was agreed were allowed to be sold recently; and if other lands in County Sligo which were taken by the Land Commission and on which a price was agreed more than one year ago may be released for sale by the owner.

The answer to the first part of the question is "Yes".

As it has not been possible to identify definitely the estates to which the Deputy refers in the remaining parts of the question, I would suggest that he communicate direct with the Land Commission about them, giving particulars of the lands concerned.

Perhaps I should state that, in voluntary purchase transactions, a change in circumstances occurring after the price agreement stage has been reached may for special reasons in isolated cases result in the deal not being pressesd to a conclusion.
