Vol. 218 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin County Council Projects.

19.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of projects submitted by Dublin County Council which are held up awaiting sanction in his Department at present; and the total amount of money involved.

Proposals are before my Department at present from Dublin County Council in respect of 13 projects involving a total estimated expenditure of £1,440,200. These proposals are at various stages from council's preliminary planning proposals onwards and examination of each of them is proceeding in the normal way.

Could the Minister now tell me when we will get the money for the Swords housing scheme which is one of the schemes mentioned here?

I could not say offhand. All I can tell the Deputy is it was suggested some years ago but sanction was received only in the middle of last month.

Is it not true that we have been told not to sign any contracts?

That is quite true. We have been getting on faster than we had planned to do with the various jobs over recent years.
