Vol. 218 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Briquette Factory.

10.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if the Government have decided to postpone indefinitely the proposed new briquette factory at Shannonbridge, Offaly; and if this factory will not now be erected.

The proposal for a briquette factory at Shannonbridge has not been abandoned. Bord na Móna is studying the economics of the project in the light of current estimates of plant costs and the experience with the existing factories. The Board will not incur any expenditure in connection with the factory in the current financial year and no provision has, therefore, been made in the Capital Budget.
