Vol. 218 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - PO Rented Accommodation.

70.

(Cavan) asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will give in respect of his Department particulars of all office accommodation rented by them in the city of Dublin; and the rent payable in respect of it.

The following office accommodation is rented by the Department of Posts and Telegraphs in the city of Dublin:—

Hawkins House, Hawkins Street

34,800 sq. ft.

Hammam Buildings, O'Connell Street

28,000 sq. ft.

34/37 Clarendon St. 10,300 sq. ft.

Bank of Ireland Chambers, O'Connell Street

2,000 sq. ft.

The rents paid total £42,200 per annum. It is not the practice, nor would it be in the public interest, to disclose the amount of the rents payable in respect of the individual properties.

Nor would it be in the private interest either.

It is never done.

(Interruptions.)

The remaining questions for oral answer will appear on to-morrow's Order Paper.

Mr. Barrett

I should like to give notice that in view of the unsatisfactory answer of the Minister to Question No. 55, I wish to raise the matter on the Adjournment tonight.

The Gallery will have all gone by then.

Also in view of the most unsatisfactory reply by the Minister for Education to my Question No. 209 on last Thursday, I wish to raise the subject matter on the Adjournment, either today or tomorrow.

I can take notice only for today.

In view of the special urgency associated with Question No. 74 to the Minister for Health would the Ceann Comhairle give special permission to the Minister for Health to answer that question now?

No. I am looking for the Order of Business.
