Vol. 218 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Nuclear Generating Station.

6.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power what considerations will govern the sitting and location of the proposed nuclear generating station.

There is at this time no proposal to erect a nuclear generating station. If and when a firm proposal for such a station is contemplated its location will have to be considered in the light of a number of economic, technical and safety factors. These would include such considerations as area of consumption of the current, water supply, adequate foundation, climatic conditions and siting in relation to populated areas.
