Vol. 218 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - CIE Bus Destination Scrolls.

7.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is in a position to inform the House if the Irish language destination scrolls which CIE propose to introduce for Dublin buses will be in Irish only or bi-lingual.

I am informed by CIE that the proposal is that intermediate places shown on the destination scrolls will be in the Irish language only and the terminal points will be in English only.

Will that not be somewhat confusing for the older generation who will not know——

They will get there.

They will very easily get to understand the names of places. Some of them have already been in Irish for some time.

It will not be very good for tourism.

I do not think it will trouble the tourists.
