Vol. 220 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Legal Aid.

29.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Justice what the total expenditure to date has been under the legal aid scheme; and if he will state the breakdown in expenditure in respect of (1) depositions in murder cases, (2) depositions in other cases, (3) other district court hearings, (4) trials for murder, and (5) other trials.

The answer is in the form of a tabular statement which I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

THE total expenditure under the scheme for free legal aid in criminal cases during the period 1st April, 1965 to 31st January, 1966 is £3,977 14s. 9d., as follows:—
