Vol. 224 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Continental Markets for Irish Cattle.

27.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is yet in a position to state the prospects for selling Irish fat and store cattle to Continental countries.

I hope to make a statement about this matter to the Dáil either today or tomorrow. Indeed, I have very good news for the Deputy.

If the Minister has good news for the Deputy, surely he can announce it now? This is a statement by the Minister and I should be delighted to hear him.

I am doing my best to comply with the protocol of this House. The Deputies have a motion down on cattle prices and I shall keep all the good news I have until we are dealing with the motion.

This is question time, you know.

The Deputy would be well advised to withdraw the motion.

Will the Minister withdraw from the rat race?

Has the Minister a right to withhold information at question time when he has the answer?

The motion had a good effect, then.
