Vol. 225 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mallow Housing.

15.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will sanction the proposal of Mallow Urban District Council to erect two prototype pre-cast houses.

The housing authority are being informed that while there is no objection, generally, from the technical viewpoint to there proposal to erect two prefabricated dwellings, the estimated cost is considered to be unduly high. They are being asked to consider the possibility of evolving a less costly project on similar lines.

16.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that there are 86 applicants for the urban district council scheme of 28 new houses at Saint Anthony's Park, Mallow, County Cork; and what steps the local authorities are taking to house the unsuccessful applicants.

I am so aware. I understand that the housing authority have appointed consultants who are at present preparing plans for two further housing schemes comprising about 100 dwellings.
