Vol. 225 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Petrol Grading.

28.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will consider grading petrol into one and two standards with a fixed price for each, so that consumers may be able to procure a better standardised service.

I do not consider that the position in relation to the distribution of petrol here requires action on the lines suggested in the Deputy's question.

Would the Minister not agree that it is difficult to know the type of petrol one is getting now, because it is not standardised?

I think consumers have a wider range of choice now than they would have under the arrangements proposed by the Deputy.

If the petrol is not standardised, how do people know what they are getting?
