Vol. 226 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Communal TV Aerials.

29.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if any requests have been made to his Department with a view to the provision of communal TV aerials; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The reply to the first part of the question is yes. The restricted basis on which communal TV aerials are permitted was fully described in a reply given to a question by Deputy Rooney on 27th June, 1963. I might add that it was decided to make no change in these arrangements when it was recently decided to request Radio Telefís Éireann to provide a communal television aerial service for the Ballymun housing project in view of the special circumstances which apply there.

Would piped television not be much more economical?
