Vol. 226 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sligo Telephone Service.

19.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the cause of the delay in extending and improving the telephone service in County Sligo.

Recent progress in extending and improving the service has been very satisfactory. The total number of waiting applications for new telephones has been reduced to 175, of which more than one-third are having attention at present and the majority of the balance will be cleared in the current year. Owing to substantial improvements in circuiting on the principal trunk routes, the standard of service throughout the county is generally satisfactory and further improvements will be made during the next few months.
