Vol. 227 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Housing.

26.

asked the Minister for Local Government (i) how many local authority houses have been built in the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown area between 1st January, 1957 and 1st January, 1967; (ii) the location of the schemes in the area; (iii) what housing schemes are now in process of completion in the area; and (iv) what proposals or plans are with his Department for further housing schemes in the area and the location of these schemes.

A total of 761 local authority houses were built in the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown area between 1st January, 1957 and 1st January, 1967 comprised of schemes in the following locations:—

Dún Laoghaire Borough: Casement Villas, Ashgrove, Flowergrove, Mountwood, Patrician Park, Rory O'Connor Park and Rockford.

The Rathdown Area of Dublin County: Dundrum, Ballybrack, Shankill and Stillorgan.

A scheme of 26 houses at Newtownpark Avenue is in course of completion by Dún Laoghaire Corporation, and work was commenced recently by Dublin County Council on schemes of 110 houses and eight flats at Hillview, Cabinteely and of 16 old people's flats at Stillorgan.

There are no plans or other proposals before my Department at present for further housing schemes in the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown area. I understand, however, that the corporation hope to invite tenders for a scheme of 104 dwellings at Mounttown House, Monkstown, in the near future, while the county council are preparing final contract documents for a scheme of 28 flats in the Dundrum area.
