Vol. 228 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Pedestrian Crossing.

17.

asked the Minister for Justice if, in view of the fact that the substantial flow of traffic to the junction of Seafield Road and Stillorgan Road, Dublin from the Mount Merrion area and through Foster Avenue will not be controlled by the proposed new traffic lights mentioned in replies of 3rd May last, and as traffic controlled by these lights may increase speed to compensate for delay at the lights, he will take steps to have a pedestrian actuated crossing provided at this junction to prevent further accidents there.

The Garda authorities expect that when the traffic lights referred to are operative they will have a platooning effect on traffic, thus considerably easing the position for pedestrians and vehicular traffic at other points on the Bray Road.

The Garda do not propose to ask for any further traffic signals on the Bray Road until they have had an opportunity of assessing the position after the new lights are erected.
