Vol. 229 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork River Drainage.

24.

asked the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works and Cork County Council have come to terms about the draining of the rivers Toone and Buingea, County Cork; and, if so, when work is likely to commence.

The county council are aware that they would be liable for the cost of maintenance of any drainage works carried out under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945. In accordance with the terms of the Act, the scheme when prepared will be formally submitted to the county council for their observations. It is not possible to say when a scheme for these rivers may be put in hands.

Will you have it done before the Shannon, do you think?

In due course.
