Vol. 229 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Relief of Mayo Congestion.

21.

asked the Minister for Lands what proposals the Land Commission have for the relief of congestion in Glensaul-Tonnaglanna area, Tourmakeady, County Mayo.

The Land Commission have been endeavouring to the utmost extent practicable to secure land for the relief of the considerable congestion which exists in this district. In recent times they have acquired a number of properties totalling 90 acres and proposals for the division of this area will be formulated as soon as possible. In addition, proceedings have been instituted for the compulsory acquisition or voluntary purchase of a further 150 acres in the locality.
