Vol. 231 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Housing Schemes.

29.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present stage of progress in the case of new housing schemes at (a) Bridgend, (b) Moness, (c) Burnfoot, (d) Inch, (e) Carrigans, (f) Killea, (g) Carndonagh, (h) Moville, (i) Quigley's Point and (j) Newtowncunningham, County Donegal.

I understand from Donegal County Council that contract documents are at present being prepared for a housing scheme at Bridgend; that revised layout and house plans are being prepared for Moness; that arrangements are to be made for the appointment of an architect to design a scheme at Killea; that the legal transfer of land at Burnfoot, Carndonagh and Moville has not yet been completed; that a compulsory purchase order is being prepared to acquire land at Inch; that a scheme of three houses has been completed at Quigley's Point recently and that the council intend to have a survey carried out to determine whether further housing is required there. In the case of Carrigans, a compulsory purchase order has been submitted to me and is at present being considered. I have given approval to the revised documents submitted in respect of the proposed scheme at Newtowncunningham.

asked the Minister for Local Government when it is proposed to approve of the application by Donegal County Council for the erection of a housing scheme at Drumkeen, County Donegal.

I have already approved in principle of a scheme of four houses at Drumkeen. Its provision is dependent, however, on the outcome of a proposal for sewerage services in the area, concerning which I have requested the council to submit additional information. When this comes to hand, the matter will be dealt with as quickly as possible.
