Vol. 232 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wicklow Rate Collector.

39.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he is going to sanction the appointment of a person (name supplied) as rate collector for number 16 district, County Wicklow, as appointed by Wicklow County Council in August, 1967.

A proposal from Wicklow County Council seeking my sanction to the appointment referred to by the Deputy is under consideration but I am not in a position to say when a decision on the proposal may be made.

For how long is it under consideration? Since August last?

Yes, the end of August.

Does it not take quite a long time?

There are some complications.

Political complications.

Like what, could the Minister say?

The different resolutions that were passed by the county council and disputes as to whether they were in order.

——as to whether or not the selection of this candidate was in order.

The resolutions.

Be more specific. What resolutions?

I was not asked about them.
