Vol. 233 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Turnover Tax.

25.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware of the practice of some stores in adding turnover tax to the total bills for several items, which include items in packages marked with prices stated to be inclusive of turnover tax; and if, as this practice obliges customers to pay double turnover tax on some items, he will take steps to stamp it out.

I am not aware of the practice referred to by the Deputy but I am prepared to have investigations made where specific cases are brought to my notice.
