Vol. 234 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Corporation Housing.

15.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of completed houses handed over by Limerick Corporation in the year ended March 1968.

I understand from Limerick Corporation that, out of a total of 835 of their dwellings on which work was started in the year ended 31st March last, 27 houses had been completed and handed over to tenants at that date.

Could the Minister tell us when these houses were handed over, as my information from the City Manager is that for the whole of 1967, Limerick Corporation did not receive one completed house for tenancy?

They were handed over in 1967-68.

The City Manager has denied that emphatically, and that is not a fact. Not one house was handed over to Limerick Corporation for 1967-68, which is a proud record for the Minister.

I do not hand over houses to Limerick Corporation, and the Deputy's question asked the number of houses handed over by Limerick Corporation, not to them.

If the Minister wants to deal in technicalities he can, but the fact remains that not one house was handed over for tenancy to Limerick Corporation for the year ended 31st March, 1968.

The Minister answered the question he was asked, and answered it correctly.
