Vol. 235 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Training Centre.

61.

asked the Minister for Finance the total cost of adaptations at the Garda Training Centre at Templemore, County Tipperary, giving details of these adaptations.

The works carried out at the Garda Recruit Training Centre at Templemore comprised the demolition of old buildings and site clearance, reconstruction of some existing buildings, the adaptation of others, the erection of new buildings and the provision of such facilities as a swimming pool, ball alleys, driving school, rifle range, etc.

The total cost of all the works, including mechanical services and consultants' fees, will amount to £647,000 approximately, and the provision in the current year's Public Works and Buildings Estimate is in respect of the settlement of the final account and works to the boundary wall.

May we take it that this £647,000 is the final figure and we will now stop spending money on Templemore?

Mr. Gibbons

I said that the total cost of all the work, including mechanical services and consultants' fees, will amount to £647,000 approximately.

Has this been offered for contract?

I do not know to what contract you are referring.

We will make allowances for your stupidity.

If Deputy Harte would ask some sort of coherent supplementary question, we could deal with it.

It is high time members of the Government stopped castigating members of the Opposition for alleged bad manners.

Will Deputy Harte please allow the Parliamentary Secretary reply to his questions?

Is it not reasonable to put a supplementary question to the Parliamentary Secretary?

If it has any relevance to the question put down by the Deputy. The Deputy is asking separate questions.

They are all tied up.

Would Deputy Harte listen to the replies to his own questions?

I would raise this on the Adjournment if I had time, but there is always next week.
