Vol. 236 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

11.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in having work commenced on the Garrymore-Ballylooby group water scheme, County Tipperary; and if he will state the reason for the delay.

There has been no unnecessary delay in the progress of this scheme. It is a complex proposal involving the provision of a water supply to 200 participants in the group, a supplementary supply to three towns and integration with a future regional scheme. Consequently the design, equipment and costings require careful assessment.

12.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the proposed regional water supply scheme for the Newmarket area, County Cork will be carried out.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the proposed regional water supply scheme for Castletownroche area, County Cork will be carried out.

14.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the proposed regional water supply scheme for Ballyanihan and Derryvillane, County Cork, will be carried out.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 12, 13 and 14 together.

Having regard to the necessity to conserve available capital for housing and other essential services only those sanitary services schemes of the highest priority can be allowed to proceed at the present time. On this basis I have recently released four major sanitary services schemes in Cork and I am considering the release of two further such schemes.

Other schemes, including those referred to by the Deputy, must await their turn.

15.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will give details of all proposals before his Department at present for the provision of water and sewerage schemes in the East Limerick constituency; and if he will state in respect of each scheme (a) the date on which the proposal was received by his Department, (b) the present position, and (c) when work is likely to commence.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the Official Report.
