asked the Minister for Health what legislation, if any, exists for controlling the meat content of sausages.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meat Content of Sausages.
123.
Section 56 of the Health Act, 1947, empowers the Minister for Health to make regulations prescribing a standard for the composition of a food where he is of the opinion that such composition is of special importance to the public health.
I am advised that these powers could be used to control the meat content of sausages. I propose to ask my expert committee on food, the Food Advisory Committee, to examine the question of such control.
