asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give details of the grants made to semi-State bodies for the hiring of the Arthur D. Little consultancy firm, naming each State body which has employed this company and stating the total cost to each.

Grants towards the engagement of Arthur D. Little, Incorporated Consultants, were approved from Technical Assistance funds for the following bodies: (a) £30,000 for the Industrial Development Authority which represented the total estimated cost; £24,475 has been paid to date. (b) £14,775 for Ceimicí Teoranta towards a total estimated cost of £29,550; £7,825 has been paid to date. (c) £51,344 for Comhlucht Siúicre Éireann/ Erin Foods Ltd., being half the estimated cost of qualifying expenditure; £39,023 has been paid to date.

The Institute for Industrial Research and Standards, which also employed these consultants at a cost of £7,050, paid for these services from their own Grant-in-Aid; no special grant was made to the Institute for the purpose.
