Vol. 238 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pre-Industrial Employment Education.

36.

asked the Minister for Education if he will arrange to have a course of pre-industrial employment education organised in the post-primary schools around any proposed new factories in the Drumlin soil belt, so as to counteract the heavy emigration that takes place from northwest of this belt.

The question of providing educational courses of this kind is primarily a matter for the Vocational Education Committee for the area concerned. Provided that there is a sufficient number of applicants to warrant the establishment by the committee of a suitable course of instruction, I shall be prepared to give sanction for the establishment of the course.
