Vol. 241 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Schools Lighting.

69.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he is aware that the manager of Loughanure, Ranafast and Meanaleck national schools, County Donegal, applied to the ESB over one year ago for electric light for the schools; and that they have not yet been connected; and if he will ensure that this is done before winter sets in.

I am informed by the ESB that they had an enquiry in January, 1969 about supply to Loughanure school only, but that the manager did not pursue the matter. If the manager will get in immediate touch with the ESB, the board will, I understand, be able to provide supply to the three schools in a matter of weeks after acceptance of the terms.

The manager has informed me that he applied 12 months ago. If it appears that communications have broken down between the manager and the ESB would the Minister ensure that these three schools are connected before the winter session?

If that is the case I shall definitely do so.
