asked the Minister for Transport and Power the bed accommodation of the 31 Irish hotels with foreign associations and the total bed accommodation of the 724 other Irish hotels.

Of the 755 hotels registered in 1969, 31 with 2,501 bedrooms had foreign associations. The remaining 724 hotels had 19,159 bedrooms.

The up-to-date position is that there are 785 hotels registered. Of course, 34 hotels with 2,565 bedrooms have foreign associations and the remaining 751 hotels have 20,590 bedrooms.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the number of registered hotel and guest house beds in the country at the moment; and the estimated number in 1972.

On 1st January, 1969, the number of beds in hotels and guesthouses was 40,342 and 9,141 respectively. Corresponding figures for 1st January, 1970, will not be available until the end of this month but Bord Fáilte estimate and that there are about 46,000 beds in hotels and 9,000 in guesthouses. The board estimates that by 1972 these figures will be 53,400 and 10,400 respectively.
